A 54-year-old Israeli man was taken into custody in Bangkok on Friday after a joint police operation targeting suspected drug-facilitated sexual encounters.
Officers from the capital’s narcotics suppression unit and immigration police raided an apartment in the Huai Khwang district. They detained Tomer Kahiri, a former soldier and textile exporter known locally by nicknames including “Tom Yum Kung,” along with a 44-year-old Thai woman.
The investigation began with a tip sent to Thailand’s narcotics hotline. An informant described an Israeli man with an eagle tattoo on his left arm who contacted women through dating apps. The tip indicated that these women experienced hot flashes and heightened arousal after eating cakes prepared by Kahiri. Police suspected the cakes contained substances that lowered the women’s resistance.
During the search, investigators found 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 50 packaging bags, an electronic scale, and a tray of cakes. A mobile phone recovered from the scene contained messages regarding drug purchases for resale and numerous videos of sexual encounters. The recordings showed different women on a sofa in the apartment, allegedly filmed without their knowledge. Laboratory results confirming the specific drugs in the cakes had not yet been released to the public.
Immigration records revealed that Kahiri had remained in Thailand for 2,095 days without a valid visa. Surveillance footage showed frequent visitors entering and leaving the apartment. Kahiri, who reportedly had no regular employment, maintained sufficient funds to support himself. The Thai woman arrested with him was suspected of possessing and using methamphetamine.
Kahiri denied that the seized drugs belonged to him. He also alleged that he had connections to an influential figure who could secure his release within two hours. According to the police statement, he demanded the names of the officers involved and threatened to have them transferred or fired. He also threatened to kill one of the officers present at the scene.
Kahiri faces charges for possessing a dangerous drug, overstaying his visa, refusing a drug test, and disobeying law enforcement. The Thai woman is suspected of possessing and using methamphetamine. Police noted that Kahiri had not yet been formally charged with drugging women or secretly recording intimate encounters at the time of the statement. Both suspects and the evidence were moved to Huai Khwang police station for further proceedings.
The next step involves legal processing at the local station. Kahiri has described himself as a businessman with two children who moved to Thailand after separating from his partner because he enjoyed the local culture. He has denied all allegations against him.
